The Ross family were prominent shipbuilders in the early years of Port Robinson.

The house is a Victorian frame two storey, with clapboard siding.  Three bay windows have gingerbread trim. The front entrance has a pair of glass panelled doors with a glass transom.  There is a small verandah on the front.
